At the beginning of every level you are brought to life as someone lights your fuse. As the fuse decreases in length, your torches decrease too. When your torch count reaches zero, you will explode, which is bad. You have to complete a set number of mazes before you end the game- on every level, you must collect all the gems scattered around before you can exit on the red fake located on every level. Unfortunately, your way is blocked by many obstacles, such as radioactive tiles (²), droids (ê), blinkers ({Î}) and so on... Radioactive tiles- glowing blue tiles. When stepped on they decrease your fuse length, which can be lethal. Droids- simple objects wot move in a set pattern. If you come into contact with one it'll kill you. Pushers- simple pre-fab ZZT crap, they move if not blocked in a particular direction (rare). Blinkers- simple pre-fab ZZT crap again, these zap you if you are aligned with them. Move quickly past them, though they can't run over radioactive tiles or the exit... There are other obstacles in the game, but you'll have to find them out yourself. Be aware that some gems are situated on top of radioactive tiles, though you won't know until you pick them up! ...I *seriously* advise saving before each level. It's very annoying sometimes. You only get one hit before you die! History: Well, after Shock (incidentally, the second `serious' game I've abandoned, exactly a year after /\/emesis), I read a review by FunkMeister (ZZTV) talking about how <untitled> was too short. After that, I came up with a neat idea that used the same basic layout as <u> butt a different method of gameplay. Instead of strategy being the key (as it was in <untitled> - you could spend as much time on the levels as you wanted), speed is important to nEGATiVE. If you want to think of it as an <untitled> 2, that's okay too. The programming for the tiles may seem impossible at first glance, but it's very, very easy (it involves alignment, like the `park' in CWire.) The way things are going, I may compile one of those `designer levels' things for both <untitled> and nEGATiVE.
